About Gina Rooney

Gina Rooney, PT, MPT, LMT graduated from Marquette University in 2002 with a Master’s in Physical Therapy.  Since graduating PT school, she has worked in a variety of traditional physical therapy settings including inpatient acute care, outpatient orthopedics, neurorehab, vestibular/balance, and wound care.  In May of 2015, she received a massage therapy license after graduating from the Arizona School of Integrative Studies’ 750 hour massage therapy program. Gina began her myofascial release (MFR) journey in March of 2007 when she took her first John F. Barnes myofascial release continuing education course in Sedona, Arizona.  The work spoke to her in ways that no other aspect of physical therapy ever had.  She knew that this was to be a large part of her own healing journey and wanted to be able to share it with others.  Providing MFR in her private practice has been the most rewarding aspect of her physical therapy career. Gina has completed all courses offered by John F. Barnes and continues to repeat courses. She also is a permanent coverage therapist at Therapy on the Rocks, Sedona’s Myofascial Release Center.

In late 2019, Gina developed a keen interest in learning more about and treating patients with the diagnoses of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), hypermobilty spectrum disorders (HSD), generalized joint hypermobility (GJH), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), and/or mast cell
activation syndrome (MCAS). This interest was piqued by one of her patients. Gina is active in EDS and POTS Providers of Southern Arizona, a local and a virtual group of healthcare providers who treat patients with these disorders. Gina is listed as a provider on the Ehlers-Danlos Society’s Provider list. Learn more about EDS and POTS.

The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting public health precautions were the primary catalyst for Gina to add telehealth to her list of services in April 2020. Telehealth is the hands-off delivery of healthcare via a secure online video/audio platform. Because it is a hands-off form of treatment, it empowers the patient to become more active in their healing and wellness journey. Click here for telehealth forms.

With her background as a physical therapist and a massage therapist, Gina is able to provide a unique blend of healing modalities with a focus on JFB MFR, craniosacral therapy, and myofascial mobilization.
